TVNZ/RNZ Logo Competition: WIN $300, Save the Taxpayer Millions

By Callum Purves

The New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union is today launching a competition to design a logo for the TVNZ/RNZ merger after it was revealed that the Government plans to spend $3 million on contract work for branding the new entity.

Kiwis can submit their designs for a chance to win $300 – 0.01% of the Government’s estimated $3 million cost.

Taxpayers’ Union Campaigns Manager, Callum Purves, says:

“The creation of this new super media company is already expensive and unnecessary but it seems obscene to spend $3 million on branding alone.

“We are always happy to help find ways to save the taxpayer money so are running a competition to design a logo for the new body. Kiwis will be able to vote online for their favourite from a shortlist and we will provide the Government with the winning logo completely free of charge.

“No doubt Laser Kiwi will make an appearance, but we are looking forward to seeing some original designs from creative Kiwis!”

All entries must be received by 11.59 p.m. on Sunday, 6th November. Logos can be uploaded using the form at the following address where you can also find the full rules for the competition: www.bit.ly/nzmedialogo
