For over 24 hours, the worldwide phenomenon in gaming known as Roblox has been down, with millions of players affected. Roblox has a multi-billion dollar revenue with over 160 million registered accounts currently playing.
Rumour was rife with concerns around hacking or censorship, however, “external incursion” was ruled out by the company.

Roblox has advised that the issue is now identified and being worked on.
We believe we have identified an underlying internal cause of the outage. We’re in the process of performing the necessary engineering and maintenance work to get Roblox back up and running ASAP. Thanks for your patience.

What has been brought up, however, is the level of anguish experienced by some young people, and raises questions about gaming addiction, overuse, lockdown effects, pressure on parents and the intersectional outcomes that are occurring. Comments on Twitter were wide-ranging and many:
my son was literally crying when he couldn't play Roblox. He started throwing things around the room and broke my favorite vase. He was so mad when he went to school and started destroying the classroom and he got sent home. Please recover Roblox!! I don't wanna deal with this!!!
