“I am no longer a Police Officer”

As both politicians and media continue a barrage of unfounded allegations and bizarre perceptions targeting the Wellington freedom protests, so do more testimonials become public.

With unprecedented levels of contempt by all MPs and most NZ mainstream media towards the hundreds of New Zealanders present, and the countless thousands of kiwis they represent, it has been all the more powerful to see strong, independent media offer the truth as a basis to report on.

This is one such testimonial. From a New Zealand Police Officer:

“So the time has finally come…

Last week after 8 years 1 month and 23 days, my time serving as a Police officer in the New Zealand Police came to an end; and I am no longer a Police officer.

Being served a termination letter for choosing not to comply with the mandate was a day of mixed emotions, but one that both my wife and I had been preparing for. We’ve been made redundant from one of the greatest most rewarding jobs you could ever do; but it’s also one of the most dangerous.

I have had some amazing times in the NZ Police and worked with some incredible people, both on the frontline and in my recent role in the Southern Communications centre in Christchurch, (where within less than a year I got to be an acting team leader) and was aiming towards pursuing my Sergeants qualification.

Ive achieved a heck of a lot in eight years; there are many things that will stay with me, things you can’t unsee (the not so good), but then also the good; the ones where we managed to impact peoples lives (especially youth), creating community events (everyday heroes and mall cops); developing a cyber safe program for high schools; working to build social media in police; implementing operations; working in other rural areas over New Years and beach hop, and of course the Police 10/7 clip that went viral – the list goes on. I’ll definitely be focussing on the good stuff!

To all those that I have had the pleasure of working with, thankyou for your service and thanks for looking out for me and always having my back.

I have always worked my absolute hardest and given the very best in every situation; to be (and make) a difference in the lives of those I have dealt with; to be an ear, a voice, a reason, an influence, and a hope.

For those of you who remain in Blue, stay safe and look after one another, respect peoples choices; to the organisation you are but a number that can always be replaced, but to your family you are irreplaceable – don’t ever forget that!

So sadly with the Government mandate now in effect it’s been a very difficult and emotional decision, losing not only the jobs we thought would take us to retirement but also losing our house. But as they say ‘when you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for everything”. My wife (having served just over two years) and I take a stand against the mandate – so from us to you all, it is 10-0 as we hang up our uniforms and look forward to what God has in store for us on this next journey ??‍♂️??

Thanks for the memories and all the support over the years!
