In an extraordinary move seen by many as a politically-driven attack, world-renowned clinical psychologist Dr Jordan Peterson has received demands from the College Of Psychologists Of Ontario. The College of Psychologists of Ontario is the governing body for Psychologists and Psychological Associates in Ontario.
The College is seeking to ‘re-educate’ Dr Peterson via a social media “Coaching Program” with a threat given should he not conform:
I am aware that if I do not comply with the terms set out in this Acknowledgement and Undertaking, this may result in an allegation of professional misconduct, and the College may take disciplinary action in this regard.” – Demand #23
The demands expressly point out Dr Peterson’s appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, watched and heard by millions around the world, with a statement from the college demanding that Dr Peterson sign off on the following:
That I may have lacked professionalism in public statements made on social media and during a January 25 2022 podcast appearance.” – Demand #1
The demands come at a time where Progressive governments have been observed to engage in anti-free speech policies and brutal tactics against their citizenry, such as freezing bank accounts of protesting truckers, suppressing political engagement with protestors, changing laws around movement, using corporate social media such as Twitter and Facebook to shut down non-conforming posts, etc.
In response to the demands, Dr Peterson has gone public with the egregious display of suppression of speech from the college, advising that he will not obey:
I plan asap to make all the allegations and my responses as public as possible while abiding by the ethical and legal restrictions on doing so (and least insofar as those rules are clear and commensurate with truth and a reasonable defence)”
“I have formally indicated my refusal to comply”
While the College has gone silent on the demands, many on Twitter gave their perspectives on the attempt to have Dr Peterson re-educated towards the entity viewed widely as merely submitting to the strongly Progressive Trudeau government:
